iPhone Locked

Featured Replies

Ok lastnight i decided to change my password on my iPhone as usually the other half likes to go snooping around at my emails... However as it's Xmas i thought it will be best to change it temporarily just so she can't see what i have bought her for Xmas to keep it a nice supprise.

I woke up this morning and went to unlock my phone and to my supprise the password does not work. You first of all get a few tries however after a while the phone will lock for a minute, when you go to try after that minute and still get it wrong you are then locked out for 5 minutes, then 15 minutes...

I am now waiting an hour and can't see how the password is wrong as i'm usually good at remembering...

Is there a way of getting passed this without going on itunes due to me being 70miles away from my computer?

Thanks,

Daniel

Without the PIN the best you can do is wipe the entire phone. And if you don't have a backup to restore to then it wont me much more help than waiting 'til you're at your computer.

Also be careful as, depending on how you set up the passcode, it may automatically wipe your iPhone after x number of failed attempts to get into it (this setting is always-on if you have an exchange email account - but can be turned on with the PIN lock if not).

Yeah i thought this would be the only way, was hoping there was like a program you can get without wiping the whole phone...

Looks like i will be phone free today but when i get home restore the phone and hopefully i backed it up not so long ago and won't lose much data.

The good thing was i un-ticked the wipe button but tbh i think now the phone will be wipped regardless

Thanks,

Daniel

You have tried the old password right, just in case it never actually confirmed correctly...

Also, you don't need to use the screen for a backup, I don't think? Can you restore items separately on an iPhone, i.e. back it up in its "broken" state, then wipe it and restore mail/contacts/apps but NOT settings?

Sorry about the late reply,

Was without a phone all that day and when i got home plugged in the phone to my laptop and i was able to try and enter the password again, still no luck however so im wondering if i set the password mi-typing the buttons as i used the advance password option instead of being just numbers...

Was a very long process to go through as first of all the backup wouldnt work as i needed a new version of itunes. After the whole update try to restore again and which i thought was stupid is the only way to restore was to update to IOS5 which took ages! Think it's really bad as you would think a restore is restoring back to the way the phone was when the sync last took place (i guess not)

Anyway all up and running,

Thanks
