Instument lights too bright

Featured Replies

Hi - I have a basic 1.2 Yeti E which I'm still very happy with after several months.

However, now the winter is here I find the instrument lights a bit bright and the basic 'E' does not have any adjustment.

Does anyone know if one could be retro fitted?

Any info would be appreciated.

Difficult one this......... I really don't know it will be possible and if it is possible to retro-fit a switch it will be VERY expensive. Perhaps ask someone with a VCDS machine if the car's software can be adjusted via a VCDS computer? You just need to buy the VCDS owner a bottle of wine or such like!

A technological solution is beyond me, but if it really bothers you could you not find some of that clear plastic film, the kind that often covers the screen of a new computer or mobile phone, and cut this to size to place over the instruments to dull them a little?

Tinted Window film would work, just choose the appropriate darkness.

It might work at night when the dails are illuminated but won't it then make it very difficult to read the dails in daylight?

Many thanks for the replies and ideas. What a good forum this is.

I have some obtained some neutral density lighting gels (used in stage work etc) and will cut some out to fit. I'll report back on the matter of been too dark in the daytime.

Cheers emcee
