oil carter plug

Featured Replies

Dear all,

Is there a reason why the carter plug has a fixed sealing? Can this be used again? Or just a extra cupper seal on top of the other seal?

In de car shop I can also buy normal car plugs M15 x 1,5mm (Ford) this has standard no seal or does the alluminum carter requires a special seal iso of the standard seal.

Thanks,

Michael

The standard VAG oil drain plug (sump plug in English) has a captive steel washer. It usually stays in good condition for several oil changes if fastened correctly.

A replacement plug/washer assembly is so cheap from your nearest Volkswagen dealer (forget "Skoda") that there's no point in fitting anything else. There are far more things to worry about on these vehicles than the sump plug - use a torque wrench and don't strip the thread in the alloy sump.
