Door lights stopped working

Both door lights stopped working so I have changed one of the bulbs for a new one. But still not working! Any ideas as to the cause and remedy would be welcome.

Don't think it's the fuse as it would probably take out both lights on the same circuit. Possibly faulty door switch? Dodgy cabling? Corroded bulb contacts?

I assume you mean the red 'warning' lights in the bottom-rear corner of the door card?

If so, a quick way to test the switch if you have remote central locking, is that the lights turn on with the interior light when the car is unlocked. So if the lights switch on, time out and turn off (leave the door open for ~5 minutes), then don't turn back on again when you open the /other/ door, then it will be one of the door switches (work out which one by trying both sides ;) )

If that doesn't find the problem, do you have a multimeter? If so, if you pry the light from the door card, and remove the black cover, please can you check the voltage across the two large metal contacts immediately adjacent to the black plug connector? Make a note of the voltage, then remove the plug connector (which is a nightmare but can be done using 2 metal nail files or some other thin, strong object) and lightly insert the multimeter into the plug sockets (just enough to get a reading otherwise you'll damage the contacts). Take a reading off that too and post them here :)

Could be just the fuse.

The op never said that only one is out. If both are out it could well be the fuse.

Open the boot. In't the boot light connected to the same fuse?

If the boot light is out, I put money on a blown fuse.

Wouldn't all of the interior lights be on the same fuse though? I.e. the overhead lights? So if they are working, then it isn't the fuse...?

Good idea to check the simple things first, mind ;)
