Yeticopter

Featured Replies

I've had these photos for some time and was asked not to publish them..... until now!

Has anyone seen this Yeti at shows or dealers? It is designed so that the R22 'copter can be towed behind the car whilst en route between promotional displays. I've no idea if it's still around though.

The 'copter is a life expired, part sectioned Robinson R22, and is considerably lighter than an airworthy one. The rig was put together for Skoda by Surrey Off-Road Specialists Ltd who do a lot of work for film & TV companies. Look carefully at the graphics on the car - someone has a wicked sense of humour!

I wonder if the reversing sensors have been adjusted!!! :giggle:

Certainly wont fit in my garage Jerry, nor any one else that I know!! :giggle:

Incidentally, that's quite some roof rack that they've fabricated. It looks as though the original roof rails have been removed (unlike in the Top Gear stunt), and a purpose built rack mounted to the original mounting points. It might be a "lightened 'copter but there's still quite some weight in it judging by the way the car's rear suspension is compressed.

Is it just me or does it seem a bit strange that Skoda would pay to have this done when the Yeti seems to sell itself anyway, a lot of people I speak to are put off buying a Yeti because of the long wait, not because they aren't sure of its exposure.

The world of P.R. is a strange place.
