Hi, Ive been ignoring this strange sound for a few months but it is getting a little more common now.

Every so often, usually when cold, i get a weird elephant/old creaky wooden door sound as i change from 2nd to 3rd as i let the clutch back out!

It drives perfectly otherwise and it only does it changing from 2nd to 3rd probably on average a couple of times a week, now more like 10 times a week.

Any ideas as i am completely stumped as to what it could be! P.s. the clutch doesnt slip as far as i can tell.

it might be coming from the pedal box. Seen afew welds on the pedal box give up on the vag tdi's. Usually starts with a squeak and eventually a crunch as the weld gives way and the clutch pedal drops

It isnt really a squeek though, its a deeper wooden kind of sound. Its really strange!
