Emissions workshop

Featured Replies

Hi all

I've just recently purchased a 2005 Octavia pd elegance 2.0 tdi and when I picked the car up and drove it 125 miles to where I work in south Wales it kept on going into limp mode so I kept on pulling over and turning the engine on an off. and then the dreaded engine management light came up with 'emissions workshop'. I went to a local garage who's a a good friend of a mate of mine to check the code out and it came up with map sensor so i'm buying one of them today to fit it and get the light cleared (hopefully that works) After reading through all the posts about about 'emissions workshop' I've been reading bits about an exhaust valve can someone please clarify for me that isn't the wastegate on the turbo please?? As the only exhaust valves I know about are wastegates, the exhaust valves for the DOHC or aftermarket valves fitted to the exhaust on to a highly tuned track cars to reduce the dB for track regulations. I also noticed that limp mode would only go if I exceeded 3000RPM or exceeded 80mph.

All help will be thankfully received

Matt

Once you have changed the sensor you should be good to go. TDi engines do not have a dump valve or wastegate on the turbo as they are variable vane, you dont have a DPF either which for some can be a good thing.

All changed with bloody and oil hands. Ruddy thing is on the lower boost pipe!! Better though and revving freely all the way to redline now. Result

Ruddy lights back on again. Even after I've changed the map sensor!! It seem to be everytime I hit full boost Thor goes to limp mode then after turning the ignition on and off limp mode mode goes but eventually the 'EMIISSIONS WORKSHOP' appears. Any ideas??
