Introducing myself as a new member in Welwyn, Hertfordshire, having just bought a Superb Estate SE 170 CR (June 2010) with 11k on the clock.

I previously had a 2005 Mondeo 2.2TDCi (155bhp) estate which had done 82k miles, many of them towing our two berth caravan around the UK and France. I had found the Mondeo a very good towcar and was intending to replace it with a more modern version. However, I was attracted by all the different positive write-ups on the Superb Estate and decided to search for a recent secondhand model. One finally located last week at Parkview Skoda in Reading. I could not fault their sales and service, with a resonable P/Ex price for the Mondeo.

I have yet to try it towing (possibly later today when the snow showers clear), but I have been very impressed with the solo drive. I used it for an ex-works day trip via ferry to Boulogne on Tuesday (Force 9 winds in the channel!). It drove well and the 300 miles of a mix of fast motorway work together with some crawls thro London (with a lot of wine in the boot) showed 45mpg on the trip computer. Pretty good (if accurate)!

Much to my wife's annoyance, I have spent the last two evenings trawling through old posts on the Superb II forum - with some useful information extracted. Many thanks. Look forward to participating from now on.

Welcome to Briskoda, i am sure the Superb will be as good as if not better than the Mondeo for towing your caravan .
