Windscreen wipers

Featured Replies

Hi

First of all has any one else had problems with the intermittent / rain sensor setting on the windscreen wipers?

When clicked into position nothing happens if I then click the adjustment it will wipe once then nothing.

If any one has any ideas or wiring diagrams that would be top notch .

Thanks

Turns out I need a new rain sensor which is behind the rear view mirror.

Thing is Skoda want £174.44 to fit and I cant find any place on the internet to purchase it my self emoticon-0106-crying.gifemoticon-0106-crying.gif

You can replace rain sensor, or you could just put a "normal" windscreen wiper relay (brown 377 or 389 one instead of grey 192 one). Then you do not need to touch rain sensor, and cost is far lower.

I replaced the auto relay on both Octavia and Superb. You get a lot more reliable intermittent wipe in place of dodgy automatic wipers, and wiper blades last much longer.

I use rainx and even at the lowest sensitivity the rain sensor would wipe the windscreen way too often. I even tried hacking the relay internals, but it made little difference.

Relay markings and colors

grey, with rain sensor, with/without headlight washer system (192)

brown, without rain sensor, with headlight washer system (389)

brown, without rain sensor, without headlight washer system (377)

Thanks both for your comments I think I will go with dieselv6's suggestion however as this seems the best idea,
