Well done ;)

What colour?

My advice would be to look at four or five before making your mind up.

Remember...cars are usually cheap for a reason but you might get lucky,though...

ive seen a couple about mite ring around and arange a visit but still eyes peeled guys :p

Seen some very cheap ones recently but £1150 sounds a bit *too* cheap! For £2000 you'd be looking at 100k+ examples so beware of things like the DMF & clutch, suspension etc which if they are still originals are going to be on their last knockings, plus second cambelt and waterpump change is due at 120k or when the cars 8 years old.

If you are going to mod one then buy one already done as it will work out cheaper. I've sunk maybe £1k - £1.5k in mine over two years getting it spot on and it's not really worth anymore than a standard one. I was thinking of selling it on but since the clutch started slipping and I'm about to do a SMF conversion I will probably end up keeping it.

i will keep in mind i may have found a couple of examples that are well prety good and under the 100k mark in miles and the same in under 2k for cash one is on here so i may be interested more in that one however as i wont have all the money at once it may well be a case of finding a seller that has a bit of room and will take a deposit

There is a vrs wrc on eBay at the min. I think it's number 75/100

oh yh as well any tips for owning a turbo car ive never really had one as a constant car haha? :giggle:

Regular oil changes.

And drive the last mile or so gently if you've been giving it the beans! Allows the oil to cool to turbo down.

still looking strangely people dont warm kindly to a deposit until the new year haha

someone offered me one on my wanted add but it needs a new head should i be weary? if not how much is it to fix it (ie get a new head and get it fitted)

Depends whose doing it and the labour prices but the old head will have to come off, new headgasket and bolts, new head will have to have valves and cams fitted etc. It would probably be more cost effective to just buy a 2nd hand AUQ engine and put it in.

You could fit a large port AGU head on there if you ever want to put a big turbo on it: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-VAG-AGU-LARGE-PORT-CYLINDER-HEAD-20v-TURBO-BAM-/150721850507?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2317b8ec8b#ht_500wt_1361

I reckon if it needs a new head then budget £200-500 for a second hand head and at least the same again for the labour unless you know someone or can do it yourself

ouch thats quite bad haha unless i can get the car for peanuts it wouldnt be very cost effective

and its an 03 plate

Sounds rather cheap.

  • Author

yh i thought so but it looks well looked after

Sounds like a bargain too if all the history is there. I find usually tyres and the brand on it are a good mark of a well looked after car...
