Headlamp bulb help !

Featured Replies

I know it's been discussed many times, but I'm racking my brain insofar as just what type of headlamps / bulb function my VRS has ?

It has the 'black' type of headlamp units with the 'globe' style projector in there. Apart from the fake sidelight bulbs, that's it. Now, Usually the combination headlamps would have H4 for main & dipped, but surely this doesn't just have 1 H7 in there ?

What controls the change from Main to High beam ?

Please advise. Cheers.

what yr is it??

does ur current bulbs have 2 or 3 pins??

If it is a new vRS then it is one H7 each side which does dipped and main. The DRLs also function as the sidelights (less powerful than DRLs to prevent glare on other drivers at night).

There are many threads about this and how to actually get the bulbs out (free knuckle skinning almost garuanteed!). Somewhere someone has said something about wiring up the fakes, not sure where though.

The dip/main beam is controlled by a shutter mechanism. You can hear it 'flick' over so-to-speak.

When you switch from dipped o high there is a loud latching noise fom the engine bay, quite disconcerting when you first hear it.
