vRS standard suspension part numbers and prices?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm thinking of getting new shocks & springs for my Mk1 vRS. Briefly considered coilovers but the ride on standard suspension is perfect for me and I don't want it any harder. All the threads I've found on the subject seem to be about fitting coilovers.

Does anyone know how much 2 OEM front shocks and springs would be? Are they only available from Skoda or do other places also sell them?

Thanks.

Think my standard front shox were about £70 + VAT from TPS. Will have to check through my invoices.

That's not too bad - did that include the springs as well?

Just get some Boge or Sachs gas shocks will be oe quality and cheaper.

Thanks Wayned. I was originally going to just get new springs, but I thought that after 80k miles and 10 years I didn't want to pay to have someone fit new springs then find the shocks wore out shortly after and I'd have to pay all over again.

The problem is that on my old car (a TVR) I knew all the different options and prices for replacing the suspension. But I don't know much about it for Skodas. I see a lot of the VAG tuning company websites suggest fitting Eibach prokit springs, but searching on here it seems several people say to avoid these on the VRS?

So what I'm really looking for is something to replace both shock and springs that won't make the ride harder (although maybe 10% harder or something would be fine). I also want to make sure the spring rates and damping match which is why I'm wary of using "lowering" springs on std shocks etc.

Could someone suggest the sort of things I should be looking for so I can go online and get an idea of how much this is going to cost? Thanks very much.

Nope. Original springs were fine. Shox were dead tho'.
