Stream Head Unit: Repair or Replace?

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

I've got a Stream head unit on my 06 VRS which developed a big black line, and now a complete blank spot on the LCD display.

I can't find any info online about if this is likely to be something that can be fixed, or if it will require a replacement unit.

If it's fixable, what level of ICE specialist will be able to tackle the job, if it's a new unit do folks reckon it's worth paying £100 for a second hand unit or buying something aftermarket.

Any advice appreciated!

Cheers :)

Chris

When mine gave up the ghost a few years ago (it kept 'eating' CDs then refusing to recognise them) I took it out and swapped it with a nice little Clarion unit using the Skoda DIN conversion kit. It has MP3 input and I also have a handy cubby-hole beneath it :) The stock speakers are surprisingly good - it seems that the Stream just doesn't make very good use of them.

I'd look for a Bolero

Quick bump!

Worth trying to get a screen off ebay or something? I keep reading horror stories about buying secondhand units and the codes not working. Decided I want a like for like replacement, would like it to look original and retain all the functions/ reversing sensors etc.

Cheers again folks
