rust on sill strip

Featured Replies

anyone had rust on their sill strips?, didnt think it could be possible as i thought they were anodised aluminium or stainless, noticed a rusty stain on one yesterday.

I think the strips are stainless but will still corrode if you get roadsalt on them. I had a small patch where a lump of salt had landed and then dissolved in the damp.

thanks les. Sounds about right, put down some rock salt on the drive a couple of weeks back,a piece must have come off my shoe getting in the car.

Mine polished out by the way - I used some Brasso and elbow grease.

Will have a go tomorrow, will be fitting the winter wheels and tyres {probably in a tee shirt!] and trying to find my water leak.
