Help Me Spend My Money

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've had my Mk1 vRS for a few weeks now and as it came in under my budget I have a roughly £300 left to spend on mods but i'm not sure where to start or what to spend it on. The car spec is as follows (so you know what i've got all ready):

Engine:

Stage 1 remap

ABD CAI

Forge 007P

Forge Carbon Fibre Engine Cover

Power Flex Dogbone Mount

G60 Solid Flywheel

VR6 Clutch

Stereo:

Parrot RKi8400 Bluetooth H/U

Exterior:

LED Side Lights

vRS Wheel Centres (on order)

I would like to replace the Skoda badges on front grill and boot, are they just stuck on or are they pinned? Would vRS badges look too much? Or should I just replace the with standard Skoda ones?

The stereo in the car is fantastic but the speakers are a bit lacking in the base department. So maybe some new speakers and an under seat sub? Any recommendations?

Exterior wise she is standard and was maybe thinking of a LCR front splitter, whats the general feeling on these fitted to the vRS?

Any suggestion or help would be gratefully received.

Here's a pic of my car which may help :)

Whiteline Rear Anti Role Bar is a must £150 ish

Badges are £10-15 each depending on where you get them.

Splitter is £38 I think someone said from Seat.

Then start saving if you plan on hanging around lol.

Lol. Thanks for the reply Billy. I plan on staying a while so I can imagine i'm gong to need deep pockets. I said to myself I would keep the mods to a minimum on this car after coming from a modified VX Signum 2.8T and spending loads on it but I can't see it happening lol.

Whats the concensus on the LCR splitter? I quite like the idea of it but I don't want the car to look too chavy with bits stuck on all over the place just some nice suttle mods.

+1 for the RARB

Makes the front end better IMO

provided its done right.

My first attempt:

I didnt cut it and mould it round the bumper, I just screwed it on.

My second splitter:

The best she has ever looked:

You will end up catching it on things, just need to reverse into spaces. Even at std ride hight mate.

Love the look wouldnt go back now.

RARB, badges, then put the rest in the petrol tank and enjoy it!

Oh yes! I like that a lot. Just spoke to my local Seat dealer and they are £38.60 inc VAT but theyr are not open to public till next Tuesday  So will have to wait till then.

Welcome to Briskoda

We can certainly help you spend money here:

Go for RARB first as will be best bang for bucks improvement

The front splitter I had for ages and liked it, but removed as got fed up hitting it on curbs, speed bumps etc and not being able to go into multi story car parks(but mine is low).

Here is a few of mine. I also stated would not spend on mine. :giggle:

Now after 4 & half years looks a bit different to when i bought it.

A simple mod to to make stereo sound better is unplug the rear door tweeters, they make the sound really tinny.

You can get to the wires from the rear parcel shelf panel speakers, unplug from there.

Thats a cracking looking motor Bowders. I've just disconneted the rear tweeters and it does sound better. Where did you get the rear bumper insert looks really smart. I love your wheels too!

get the rarb if you think it needs it and spend the rest on full servicing / top up fuilds

a couple of other things to do:

clean throttle body

check if coil pack recall has been done

if money is really buring a hole the mk4 golf aero wiper conversion is very nice!

Just done the "unplug rear door tweeter" mod. Took less than a minute and makes a huge difference to the standard sound.

The car is fully serviced and I have plenty of top up fluids at home. The throttle body was cleaned at The last service as per the previous owner ( briskoda member) coil pack recall has been done. So no need for any of that.

save up for tyres then! ;)

oh and maybe fit some uprated H4 lamps

Lol. Tires are fine. But uprated H4 lamps could be a winner was thinking about some ring xenonmax. I take it your not into modding your car?:D

Im a big fan of the cupra splitter, as said it really finishes the front

I'd go for a new sportgrill and maybe black and maybe black corner lamps (if you have black headlights) and a headlight eyebrowns :)

Here is the new sportgrill and corner lamps:

I'll put the headlight eyebrowns on soon

and a splitter is a must:

Here is mine with a splitter last summer but it broke off during some sojourn in the wilderness

Then I'd get more money and go for all the other things :D

philips uprated ones meant to be the best, I bought some +80% off a member that were advertised as +100% - not much better than the +50% that were in previously to be honest

osram nightbreakers meant to burn out rather quickly

i like modding but like the oem look, also know it does nothing for long term value of car, only if i think its worth it i do it

R32 FARB and Neuspeed 28mm RARB would be money well spent

ditto the above
