EML / Loss of Turbo.

Featured Replies

Evening all, i have a pd130, Completely standard apart from a stage 1 Revo map.

today, admittedly i was giving it some beans with a boxter, and new sirocco.

I went from a high speed, to a stand still very quickly, after this the Turbo seemed to loose power, and then my engine management light popped on, and stayed on for a good hour and a half, however the turbo seemed to come back to life after i slowed down for a while.

Am i right in thinking this is due to me not letting he turbo spool up and down, due to the very very quick changes in speed and its use? or has anyone experienced any other issues with this?

Thanks, Tobe.

Sounds as though it's just gone into limp mode

As above, not really an issue unless it keeps happening mate.

Eh? The car should only go in to limp mode if something is wrong, surely? :wonder:

It was most likely overboost limp mode caused by sticky turbo vanes, giving it welly every now and again wont harm it as long as the turbo is warmed up before hand.

If this has only happened once I would not worry about it but if it happens again then maybe look to getting the turbo cleaned.

yes it is overboost it happened to me when i bombed it down the bypass, lost all power because the ecu goes into limp mode to stop you causing severe damage, managed to crawl to the end of the bypass, turned it off and back on again and it was fine hasnt happened since......weird experience mind :)

What causes this? Bad mapping?

No, sticky VNT.

Ah I see.

Cheers
