2012 may be the year the octy goes or changes ? though

Featured Replies

Guys........ it may be the time of year or that ive had him a while now emoticon-0143-smirk.gif

but im really giving thought ( yes......again ) to changing the octy emoticon-0124-worried.gif

i really fancy a furbie vrs emoticon-0100-smile.gif

(so i will remain on brisk, and then swap a mk2 octy vrs estate in a couple of years when my funds change emoticon-0148-yes.gif)

i will remove the BBS's tho and put the spiders on instead, ive also got to take the stereo out so it wont be straight away emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

looking at mk1s on autotrader at what they go for , its so hard to say ??????

they are on there from £1100 - £5000+

i wont be going for nothing and i'll be selling for no real reason so there will be no rush emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif

what kind of price would a 55 plate with 15k on fetch?

my brothers sold for a £5 and my cousin brought a minter for £4500 not long ago as he is very picky

im not even going to acknowledge stupid comments emoticon-0173-middlefinger.gif

i know it wont get millions but surly theres no way a nye on new mk1 vrs would go for a tenner either emoticon-0175-drunk.gif

it would no doubt have to be to the right person emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I also know you can get mk2s with silly miles on also for a tenner emoticon-0102-bigsmile.gif or maybe £20

i have dont have any of the standard bits left so it wont go back to standard either emoticon-0146-punch.gif

:dull: you been drinking again?? :p

Don't get rid of it mate, yours must be the lowest mileage one in the country!

I reckon you could expect close to 5 grand for it at the moment but with so many around selling for peanuts now you wouldn't get much interest.

Might as well hold on to it until it becomes a sought after classic!

Mk1? If so why would you want to swap the smooth 1.8T for the 1.9 PD tractor engine when you do no mileage at all?

or

Mk2? Even in vRS form that is not a good looking car by any stretch.

Seems silly to change for the sake of it. Why not keep hold of it until you can get the mk2 Octy that you want?

a change in job may mean the octy will do a daily run possibly in traffic emoticon-0120-doh.gif

the £260 tax doesnt make me happy either emoticon-0106-crying.gif

the 1st phase of the mk2 vrs estate diesels is what id like emoticon-0100-smile.gif silver or black...... maybe blue

or of course the special edition would be great emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Ah I know that feeling. My commute went from just over 5 miles to just over 50 miles a day (soon to be just over 60 miles) and I very nearly talked myself out of running my vRS.

In truth its days are probably numbered now but I'm doing my best to put off saying goodbye to it :p The thing cost £4.3k to keep on the road last year, god knows what this years total will be :o Currently Excel is predicting £7.5k but it has been a heavy couple of months since the move (insurance, MOT etc.) so hopefully that will settle down a bit :S

Its just got silly :S

Its not even just the whole affording it thing, its the principal :wonder:

Ive told my ins everything so they hammer me

Tax keeps creeping up

Petrol is stupid prices

The car is indeed very cool , but with my 2 girls here now i think to myself " what could i be doing with and for them and for them with the extra the octy costs "

It would also be nice to use my car as our main car, which is why i love a mk2 vrs denzal estate

lol it just doesnt help thay i do love my octy too :smirk:

I have done what you are thinking mate,

Cardiff-20111221-00309.jpg

Only I am keeping the Octavia lol, take it off the road and Sorn it and it doesnt cost a penny, take the ECU out and it wont go anywhere either. Mine is gonna be off the road now for at least a year. Will then see whats what and how things are going and then decide what to do. Keep and do up(I want to do) or strip and sell the parts again. Mine is not worth anything like yours as mine has 97k more on the clock.

I do 80 mile a day and have done for the last 2 years and the miles were killing her. so I got the Fabia and TBH I love it! its std and is gonna stay like that other than the Octy brakes and Spiders and pos a RARB if I find one at a damn good price. The rims and Brakes I have already so wont cost anything hence why I am doing it. I getting 50-60 mpg depending on weather and how much of a hurry I am in and the low down poke is ace. and you can sit in 6th ate 70 :giggle: and get 50+ mpg.

It is soo nice to drive too, very nice for long drives, the seats could be nicer but are good. the ride is soft but still firm at same time. mind I am comparing it to my Octy which is almost maxed in the handling dept. Still Love the Octy tho for the shear thrill and handling.

even tho the Fabia is a lot smaller, its still nice, I struggle to find place for my feet but once you get used to it, then its ok.

One thing tho, The brakes are S***E! even compared to std Octy brakes let alone the LCR Brembos lol.

I worked out that the Fabia will pay for its self in 2-3 years on work miles alone. Ill save £1300-£1500 a year on work fuel alone over the Octy and also Tax goes from £245 down to £130 lol. then there is all the miles up north and down cornwall to see family. I do 20K+ to work and back a year then there is the Family visits to go on that too.

I would hang on to yours tho Lloyd, its stunning car and as said , not even run in yet, itwould of done more miles if a dealer still had it and moved it round the show room every so ofter to change the displays lol.

I recont you need to get it out more and put some more miles on it. If driven right they are good on fuel too.

I agree tho they are stunning looking cars. the fabias are not as nice to look at but it servess the purpos.

Good luck mate.
