mk1 octy vrs rear discs solid/vented

Featured Replies

OK peeps, i have searched to death on here and it seems the 'norm' for mk1 octavia vrs's is to have 256x22 vented rear disc as standard. Mine has solid 9mm discs and as far as i know (from my LONG ownership and previous extensive service history) they have not been changed??? (i have replaced the discs but just thought the solid ones were the 'norm' and they were supplied by Jabbasport for a vrs). Were these cars ever supplied with these as standard or do i have a rogue?!?!?!?

J.

I think my rears are vented? I haven't changed them since I got the car but unipart offered me vented when I spoke to them.

definitely vented (for both, front and rear)...

yea mine are vented too.

As the others have said it should definitely be vented.

Once the pads wear down I wonder if it would be possible for them to come out of the carriers or for the piston on the caliper to come out too far? I would get it checked/rectified ASAP!

Wonder if the rear calipers were altered too. Hmmm...

Got a picture of the caliper?

Maybe the cars rear axle was damaged early in its life (spun into a kerb?) and the whole rear assembly was swapped from a lesser model?

If the car has the original alloys are they all dated the same on the back?

If you order brake parts via chasis number do they supply solids or vented?

Like i mentioned before, they have never been replaced (the calipers that is). They are the original green painted calipers :/ I have replaced pads only once and discs and pads together, Jabba didn't even bat an eyelid at the fact they were solid and got the discs (mintex) straight off the shelf for it hence wondering if the VRS ever came with solids...? bizarre :S

I know from doing abit of digging that the leon cupra R's could have either solid or vented at rear but thought all vRS's were vented at rear due to extra weight over rear end,

Most places i would imagine would stock both altho i would expect them to mention that its got solid instead of vented discs at rear

As far as I knew (SEAT tech for 3 years or so) Leon Rs always came with vented rears to the Uk (along with Brembo front brakes).
