whirring sound in cabin

Featured Replies

Hello I too am a happy owner of a Yeti Experience dsg 2.0 L.

A couple of weeks ago i began hearing "whirring" sound in the cabin at 1500-1700 RPM.

It is driving me crazy.I would live with it , only that the yeti is very happy cruising at this RPM range at 90-100 KMH...

The sound goes away at around 1800 RPM and above, and is in synch. with the engine revs.

I am asking my fellow forum members if anyone has a clue where the sound is originating from, the last thing I would like is my car taken to pieces....please help.

I am waiting for an answer before I take it to the Skoda garage. Thanks and a happy new year.

Thanks,Kevin.I appreciate your reply. The reason Im posting here is that the people at skoda probably wont have a clue where the noise is coming from, wont find the origin and mess up something else in the process of looking... Anyway,Ill wait a few more days and see if anyone will come up with an Idea. The frustrating thing is that one spends a fortune on a new car and ends up with an irritating noise,no matter how faint.

I'd suggest getting it to the garage for them to investigate.

Depending on where the noise is coming from it could be anything, so better to get the experts to investigate.

My diesel DSG is making sounds like the engine is in too high a gear, at engine speeds it never made before. Maybe something was damaged when offroad. There is also a strangle rattle now on idle. I'm sure it's all connected.

I'm pretty sure that I've seen a thread that mentions the cabin air extraction gubbins that were causing an elusive noise but I've searched and can't find it! I think the vents were at the rear windows.

Hi Fred.

I'm sure it is external and engine/drivetrain or exhaust related, as it can be heard when standing next to the car.

Hello Rogun

I agree with you,I think I had better take it to an authorised Skoda garage,at least for the sake of having it on record,it would be stupid not to do so as the car is under warranty. What do you think?
