suspension question...eeeek

Featured Replies

Hi all, Sorry in advance a question about suspensionm but I cant find what im after with the search function

Right, Id like to lower her a tad and make it a better ride, (im use to coilovers on all my previous cars)

The reason I got the fabia was for practicallity so I dont want to be getting her silly low!

Lowness - 30-40mm max

Ride - Nothing harsh, better handeling but as OE to comfort as possible

Budget - £300 ish? and for this I do not want budget coilovers, wost come to worst I'l buy KW V1s but id rather keep costs down,

Iv seen that H&R & Eibach do a few spring kits which come in at around £130, but then the struts/dampeners bring it up to £500+ which is near on KW v1 money

Also would the spring kits be ok on the standard struts/dampeners?

Plan is to get a RARB too,

Thanks

Rich

In previous experience iv found springs to be a bit bouncy and the ride no better than my coilovers. To get the drop your after you'll need coilovers anyway I'd have thought I'm not sure springs that drop 40mm would ride well, certainly not with stock shocks, and eibatchs while helping to corner better don't look lowered if that's what your after. I'd get KW's, you don't have to deck it, just run them at a reasonable hight.

Ok thanks,

Even if its a 20-30mm drop that would be a huge improvement on looks imo,

what about eibachs & a RARB coming in at £300 ish?

trying not to spend KW money!

Thanks

Rich

To be honest fella I'm exactly the same, last car was very low, the Fabia needs to be more practical so Im going the same way.

I have Eibach springs and Whiteline RARB and uprated dog bone mount to go on once the poor winter weather is out of the way.

Just need to get some OEM bumpstops to trim down a tad.which is supposed to help out a bit.

Damian from DPM said the springs will be fine with standard shocks. As already mentioned the Eibachs only lower the car 25-30mm which is plenty for me.

ah cheers for replying, that's sounds good to me,

how do you find them? comfy ride? and how is It for handling?

also whats the dog bone mount? and these bumpstops what's the crack with them?!

thanks

Rich

Haven't fitted it all yet fella, once crap weathers out of the way. Dog bone mount bush is the rear engine steady bar you replace the Swiss cheese bush for a Super Pro item, it's supposed to make a nice little difference.

I'm on my phone I'm afraid so I can't locate the bumpstops thread for the Eibach springs, you trim them down a little to help stop hitting them. Hope this helps.

You can fit FR rear bump stops which are shorter than standard to save cutting up some standard ones.

At that mileage it'll be worth renewing the shocks too!

Cars on 36000 miles.

Cars on 36000 miles.

You'll get away with that, On the other hand!

Don't suppose you have a part no for the FR rear bumpstops? What about the front bumpstops, can Cupra ones be used?
