Featured Replies

right, i have now re-fitted my sump and actually got round to fitting the samco TIP(what a pig that is!)

but my problem now is how much oil goes into the car  looked through the manual but can't find it.

any idea's?

Engine plus filter = 4.5 litres.

Check the dipstick Bengie, thats why its there ;)

but that would mean pouring in 1/4 litre and checking and so on untill i get the right amount. would take ages, or i could ask a nice helpfull man who gives me the answer i seek :)

right, done the car tother day and put about 4.5 litres in and it was nice and happy, no leaks or anything.

but now a few days on the yellow oil light comes on for a few seconds when i start the car, so when the car was cold and level i checked the oil level and it was about 3/4 up the bent bit on the dipstick(looks like a bus stop on a racing track) so i topped up untill it sat at the top bend but the light still comes on. have i done something wrong?

That's the right part of the dipstick to be checking. Looking at the Handbook, and clutching at straws perhaps, does this bit apply?

Models fitted with LongLife Service:

The oil level warning (ie yellow warning light) is reset when the bonnet is opened. If the engine oil is not replenished, the warning appears once again after driving about 100km.

read this too denis but i start the engine and it flashes at me so i open the bonnet and check level which seems fine, close bonnet turn car on again and its there straight away. stupid thing

getting me quite confused now :confuse:

how do i find out what service shedule i am on?

Any audible signals, bengie, or just the light?

Is it not just the routene system check at start up?

no beeps, just flashy light and its never been there before

right just took this little vid with my phone, the bottom yellow flashiong light is the oil light

slightly rubbish quality but shows what i see, no beeps other than seat belt beep

think i may have sussed this, my service indicator has been flashing for a while even though it has been looked at(new oil, filter, air filter etc) so i went and reset that and hey presto the yellow oil light has dissappeared, so maybe it was just moaning at me because it thought it needed servicing. will know for sure if it doesn't return over the next few days :)

Let us know when you are sure it is sorted, bengie.

no problem, but it did come every time i turned the ignition on and now i have reset the service indicator it doesn't come one, i tred 4 times to be sure, i even started the engine so it seems to have done the trick, but as said only time will tell for sure
