Vinyl wrap Dash bits

Featured Replies

Evnin all, oh and a Happy New Year to all.

Been looking at away of modding the interior not to look chav, just to brighten up the interior as its soooo grey and dark. Seen the wood kits but 1). don't like wood look 2) the price of these kits.

Anyway bit the bullet and ordered some Brushed aluminium Vinyl for the dash and fitted today. Just looking for peoples constructive criticism or comments and ideas etc

Here's the pics, it looks a lot lighter in the pics than it is though and it doesn't really show up the grain of the brushed metal either.

thinking about doing the large bit around the door handles too but not sure if this will be too much. I get very carried away sometimes.

doesn't look too bad. I am not big on silver so it wouldn't have been my personal choice but as I said, it doesn't look bad!

To be fair I did want something a little darker than this but again it is darker than it looks in photos in real life but thought carbon fibre route wouldn't look right either and would be too dark also defeating the purpose of doing it in the fist place.

i think it looks brill mate just what im after!! hope u dont mind me askin where did u get that from as ive been lookin for some for ages, as i was gonna go down the paint route and do round my air vents as well but just in matt finish.... but i like that as i hate the original carbon look on the vrs anyway, but the silver brightens it up and u can get the window switch in silver anyway they where on the golf vr6 as standard i think...

That was enought to do what I have shown plus about the same left over for the door bits :) good price too and seems good quality. More fiddly than I thout to fit.

Cheers fellas,That actually looks really good, I thought it might be to dark but I suppose there is enough highlights in it to stand out. On another note what double din stereo is that as I was wanting to fit something OEM to fill the void. Is it an in dash cd stacker or is it satnav too? Standard or Retrofit?

oh, forgot to ask did either of you have a problem with the cigarette tray sticking after you wrapped around it as I'm going to have to trim mine again I think as it still jams on the gear stick panel?

That's the Skoda double din sat-nav that was available as an option from the factory instead of the Symphony single din stereo

As mentioned it is the std skoda Sat Nav that was a optional etc. I fitted few years back, not because it was a brilliant Sat Nav(no post code recognition) but still does the job, but more as it lights up green and fills the center well. Also the Amp is better than the single din unit.

Here it is with logo when switched on (before I fitted carbon

Yes it does catch slightly as it is thicker with the matting. I can still close and open it but not easy. I don't care really as the finish is what I was after.

Cheers for that, I had a quick look on tha bay last night to see if there was any about but rocking horse poo springs to mind. Also noticed that your dash insert was silver before you wrapped it, is that standard vrs or was it painted?

That was when i had std dash trim. I still have it as i got a spare set and carbon matted that , so i can always go back to std if I sell or get bored..

P.S the VW sat navs are exactly the same, apart from not having green illumination and have the VW logo when first powered up.

Hmmm mind you at £180, I think the missus would soon knock that idea on the head. :(

True, for that kind of money you could get a cheap aftermarket one with something like TomTom or NavnGo installed on it, that's a lot of money for an OEM satnav which is now a pretty old unit.

Make a offer.

Mind you 3 years ago when i got mine from a Ebay was £320. And that was a good deal for back then :S

Especially with no code and a zero rated ebayer, think I would avoid that one, I would like one eventually as well.
