Clutch slipping! Help please!

Featured Replies

Even with a uprated clutch and flywheel I dont find myself sitting at 1500-1700rpm then booting it tbh. I tend to drive it much more petrol like

It's down to personal driving style. I class 2krpm as the start of the powerband to which I want to use.

2000rpm isnt going to cause any issues though, especially with a map as you dont get the big lump of torque at 1900rpm that I remember the standard mapping having, unless you constantly doing it in 6th gear which is a bit pointless. Anything below that in higher gears will be the time when its causing issues/damage.

Thanks for addressing my concerns. So as long as I'm over 1500ish revs it should be safe before occasionally booting it?

2k+ rpm, but its mainly in higher gears that it causes issues. Sat at 30mph in 5th them flooring it is the kind situation you want to avoid. You`ll find when its mapped the power is moved up the rev range anyway, so unless cruising, you`ll be better of with a few move rev`s to make good progress. This is based on my experience and advice from clever techie people.

Thanks for all the info people. I will be getting a standard setup then I will get my map looked at.

Who did the map in the first place?

I don't know who mapped the car. It was mapped when I picked it up from Rainworth Skoda Mansfield. I'm not happy with the service they gave me at all.

Tell them you want the standard map back on and a new clutch :)

I can't see them doing that, I've had a few issues with them in the past. Very unhelpful
