Guidance on installing H7 HID's

Featured Replies

Hi All,

This is guidance needed for H7 HID kit 6000K

I understand the plugs on the HID's, however coming off the bulb is two wires with spades on. Blue wire & black wire. They plug into the plug that originally plugs onto the standard halogen bulbs which is a brown and white wire.

The question i'm asking is which wire goes onto which spade?

Blue wire to white wire? OR Blue wire to brown wire?

Thanks,

Oli

Is one not slightly larger than the other to make it a more obvious fit? I thought that was the case with my kit.

Nope, there doesn't seem to be anything obvious

I have one side working, and had to swap the wires over for the bulb to work, however on the other side I connected it up and nothing happened, I then looked at the bulb and it was blown.. I have no idea why it has blown as the other side is fine

what kit did you buy?

what kit did you buy?

Slim kit on rclick.co.uk

Would you say the bulb blew cause of maybe the wiring or just a faulty bulb?

when i fitted mine i put them in the way i thought they should(followed wire colours) and they dint work. . swapped the spades round n perfect. . .

So the bulb was probably faulty mote than anything, what colours did you do to what wires which made them work? (For passenger side)

How certain are you that the bulb has gone?

I've fitted HIDs in the past where they haven't worked properly until you start the engine. I put it down radio etc over time pulling too much juice for the ballasts to ignite.

It may also be the way you've plugged the connector that goes into the ballast, as that one looks like it can fit either way also.

The middle bubble has gone silver/grey, I presume they are supposed to look clear see through, also had a look on the net too, I will double check the wiring but should the bulb blow due to having the lucar connectors on wrong?

Quite possibly, but if you've just bought them, I'm sure you could return them faulty for replacement.

Yeah, I will send it back, also would anyone be able to give me detailed instructions on connecting the wires please?

I dont know why you have blue wires, Ive just got my HIDs today form HID direct, all I have to do is fit the bulb to the car and fit the red wire from the ballest to the + on the car and black to the -.

Looking at the one I have it all looks straight forward lol

Yeah the red and the black apart from on mine they are blue and black, I take it they are the same as yours, then on the car the wires are white and brown?

So which do I put to which?

Does your red go to brown? Or red to white?

Dont know what colour the wires are on the car till i look, I will measure the 2 wires with a multimeter then which ever is 12/14V i will put the red to.

But brown and red are normally live.
