Pretty soon I am going to need to find an airbag ECU... Now I know when crashed the airbag control unit logs the crash and you see companies advertising to remove this - Can VCDS remove this signal? I remember my P.A.S pump had a crash signal on it when fitted which put it in limp home mode... I cleared the fault using VCDS and it was fine. Could the same be done for airbag module or is the crash signal reversal more difficult?

The only reason I ask is obviously a crashed airbag unit is going to be a lot cheaper than a fully working one.

Was the PAS thing just a fault code that you cleared? You could try finding the part number for the airbag controller and checking the VCDS label files to see what fault codes and adaptation channels are available for that part number?

This is what I feared. If I get hold of one, I will bear you in mind

I am hoping as a blown airbag & a blown airbag control unit are essentially worth sod-all, I can get those cheap and have them simply for MOT time....

It largely depends on the ecu, some do and some don't.

Some store crash data for three and then one clear, some won't clear one as there is a central crash sensor in the ecu itself which once activated the unit is scrap.
