3 Weeks Of Ownership & Very Impressed So Far

Featured Replies

As per title, I've had my Octi vRS for just about 3 weeks now and so far im pretty impressed. Coming from a car I didn't want to sell that was newer and more powerful I was worried but I really didn't have anything to worry about. The main reasons I bought the Octi was they are so much car for such little money, cheaper to tax and run than my 2.8T Signum. This has been proven by my first full tank of petrol (51.10 litres) to be precise. I managed to squeeze 362 miles out of it and avereaged 33.19 mpg over the tank which I think is pretty good for a 200+ bhp car thats covered 110K. This would have been a pipe dream in my old Siggy lol.

Don't get me wrong the car has its little niggles such as dodgy central locking which i think is going to take a while to sort as it seems to have most of the symptons for all the bits that usually go wrong lol. The standard speakers are awful and thats even with a decent head unit fitted. The climate control system is too fiddly and dangerously situated to operate whilst driving. Even with pretty good tread on the tyres the car likes to spin up when given a bit of welly and this can be pretty much in any gear. Not massive problems and some of them I can sort so no real worries.

The driving experience with the car is great I think you really feel connect to the car if you know what I mean. I love the gear box, nice and tight and crisp. I love the VR6 clutch and solid fly wheel (even with a little bit of judder). My car is stage one mapped and she flys. Plenty of power even after coming from 280 bhp. I love the sound of the engine with the induction kit and the chavvyness of the dump valve. The handling is pretty good on standard shocks and springs and still very comfy. I haven't managed to find a comfortable driving postion yet but I love the style of the seats.

I'm even starting to love the looks of the car. They have a great stance even on standard 17" spiders and standard suspension. I love the fact she's red and stands out from the crowd and I'm finding myself looking back at her when ever I park her up and walk away.

So to summarize: Am I happy?....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Oh Yes :D

Glad your pleased and at least with skoda you'll know it'll be reliable being VAG something that can't be said about Vauxhalls! (had them at work and hated every one of the evil things!) :)

To be honest i've never had a problem with reliabilty with any of my vauxhalls but then I only drive and own petrol models. Diesels on the other hand are sh**e and very unreliable but then thats what you get for being a tractor lover lol.

So are you pleased with the car ?

Erm yeah its ok lol. By the way your signature is wrong - everyone knows red is the fastest colour ;):D

:wonder: :moon:

After nearly 5 years of ownership I still look back on mine and admire her.

and owning over 50 cars that is impressive.

So well done to you .......

Having owned mine (from new) for over 9 years I still love it!

I think the vRS is a really striking yet massively understated car.

I dread the day I will get rid of mine.... It'll only ever be for something like a S6/RS6 (v10!!!) Avant.... :p
