Wheel Alignment - is this any good?

Featured Replies

I recently got the wheels of my Skoda Octavia II aligned at a Wheel Alignment Center. The car has done about 11000 KMS.

See report from the first iteration of alignment

No sooner i pulled car out of the center I realized the car is pulling on right side. Drove back to the center and had to wait for about an hour for my cars turn. See report from the second iteration of alignment

Given the quality of workman ship in first iteration i am not fully convinced that a good job has been done.

Please suggest if I should do alignment yet again at a different tyre dealer?

To me looks like they dont know what they doing.

1. First I noticed adjustment in caster and I started thinking - great they done something that not a lot ppl would do. But then second readout shows the same numbers where to me it show they where very slappy at their work and made wheel turn while doing adjustment and thats way difference. That shouldnt happend.

2. Rear axle: With that >2deg positive camber on your back you will be draging not just pulling to right (front caster doesnt help either) but to me it looks like it must be bent - REALLY BAD! I dont know what suspension you got but if its a straight beam - it needs changing. If its independant suspension then I would look for damaged bottom arm or spindle/hub.

To me if they havent spotted this then they not worthy to even check suspension not mentioning about doing adjustment. BTW. Looks like all what they tried to do was toe - thats it! That wont fix problem with your pull. Unfortunetly but there is much more work needed to make it right.

At my place you would know why you still have a problem.

It wasnt bad before either. Or should I say they didnt need to do a massive job :giggle: How much did you pay?

£45 for the alignment =] even though it was slightly out, it would always pull to the left, now its spot on straight!

They have done nothing to suspension what would indicate cause and fix for pull. Sounds to me you had tyre or pressure problem and they fixed it if you dont have your problem anymore.

They must have done something cus now its fine lol. My previous tyres pressures were spot on but they were cheapo's so had vredesteins put on with a full alignment and now everything fine

I wont argue. Its great to know its sorted now. There is nothing worst then pay a mechanic and have a feeling - its still the same.

That only shows that first place did something wrong. I dont understand how come on first one you had so much camber on back and second one shows no problem. You can see adjustment done on front and back on proper John Beam machine. Thats the one I use and I really see accurancy of it. Glad to see you got it sorted. I would suggest to get money back from 1st garage.

Yup it was a John Beam machine. Not worth asking refund the alignment cost less than 4 quid!
