Buying a vrs

Featured Replies

I have been looking to buy a VRS for a while and have read relevant buying guides, do i go for the low mileage standard option, or a modified one with 80-90k miles, with the mods i would do to it anyway.

Another thing coming from a Mk4 Golf Gti will i get the same build and ride quality?

Many thanks Paul

Welcome to the forum.

I went from a mk4 GTI TDI 25th Anni to my Fab and its much better, build quality, ride, performance, braking, economy all better.

My Golf's CD changer didn't work, seat recliner didn't work, turbo would cut out, ride was rubbish but mine obvs had the 18inch BBS wheels

Make the change, you won't regret it

PS go for higher mileage cheap one, just as long as its serviced and well looked after

Welcome.

My Golf is comfier than I remember my Fabia being - the seats especially, quieter too. Handling - I can't remember. They both seem rubbish compared to the RX-8 I left, but I'd say the Fabia had less

body roll (as a result of less comfort I guess), but maybe a bit less front end grip.

Quality doesn't seem too different - bits like the doors are better in the Golf, being padded fabric rather than hard plastics. Switch gear is pretty much identical, but things like dash vents seem sturdier (better design mostly) than the Fabia.

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the Fabia, just the Golf ticked more boxes for me, although it is really boring to drive!

Thanks for the replies and comments, i have my eye on a modded vrs on pistonheads, quite close,it is mapped coil overs, leather, front mount, roll bars etc 94k miles with good history £4100. No link as on my phone. Does this sound reasonable?

Nice cars is the golf anni.

Sounds pretty good, as long as it's in good condition/cared for.

The leather would be sellable for £500+ (maybe £500 inc. a standard set if you're lucky) I'd say if it helps bring it into budget/sway a decision.

Skodaguy is selling a lovely one check it out on the classified
