Anyone scanned a Sharan with VCDS?

Featured Replies

My son and daughter in law have bought a 2002 VW Sharan which whilst it has 2 remote keys that both unlock and start the car, (these are both 2 button remotes), only 1 of them will open the central locking from the remote, so we tried to pair the 2nd key via the method in the handbook (working remote in ignition - turned on, 'un-coded' key in door, door locked then button pressed etc) but nothing, the battery has been changed in the remote and the red LED in the remote lights up when it is pressed, the LED also worked on the 'old' battery.

No problem I thought - I would simply pair it with VCDS, however both 46 - Cent. Conv. and 35 - Cent. Locking control modules are not found with VCDS so I cannot pair it that way either!

So the question is has anyone scanned a Sharan and can you confirm whether controllers 35 or 46 were present.

I personally think the PCD board in the one remote has seen better days but it would be nice to know if the remote can be programmed with VCDS if a replacement is bought.

(FWIW I am using the latest Ross-Tech software 11.11.1 on a genuine interface)

Central locking is handled by central electrics (09) on the Sharan/Alhambra.

To be honest if i remember correctly even when using dealer diagnostics it tells you to sync remotes in the door lock. But that involves ignition on, unlock the car then flick the key into the unlock position three times and then the LED in the door flashes slowly, press the unlock button once and that should program it....I think.

I did look under central electrics but didn't see it there ( I may of missed it mind?)

Will try the way you describe with the key in the door

Your description was very close, what finally worked was:

"The most important bit is the make sure the LED in the door stays on which means it has entered the programming mode and then is waiting for the signal from the key. I hope it works ok.

Insert a key into the drivers door lock and turn the key to the UNLOCK position three times in succession, for at least 0.5 seconds each time, and within a total period of five seconds.

The system should now enter the 'programming mode' and the LED in the door should illuminate continuously for the next fifteen seconds. The first key must be programmed within this period.

Aim the first key to the infrared receiver.

Press one (either) of the buttons on the key and keep it pressed while simultaneously pressing the second button three times. Release both buttons.

The remote control key should acknowledge as successful transmittal by the KEY LED flashing five times. The system should similarly acknowledge by the indicator LED flashing rapidly six times.

NOTE:

Programming of the first key must be completed within 15 seconds from the start of the LED illuminating continuously. The programming of the second or subsequent keys must be completed within 15 seconds from the start of the flashing acknowledgement.

The system will automatically exit the programming mode 15 seconds after the last key has been programmed

If it doesn’t enter programming mode it unfortunately means there is a more involved problem with the system. If you get into programming mode but it doesn’t accept the signal after the key button presses it means there is a problem with either the receiver (very unusual) or more likely the key itself. Good luck hope it works"

Both keys now work correctly again
