The car also has had a remap aswell and it has had the whistle since last march.

Most remapped cars will have a bit of turbo whistle, it's just the turbo spooling up

+1

Mines whistled since the day i bought it and its still going strong after 2 years. It was remapped when i bought it and its since had a shark remap on it. Still the same sound but all is well so far.

Mine had a brand new turbo under warranty and it even whistles at tickover a bit!

Not sure why, but it does and as its brand new it must be sort of normal.

Mine whistle on start up, whistle and whooooooosh when spooling

mines whistled since i got it since then ive had a remap on it and still the same so dont think it'll be a problem!

Whistle at idle is caused by the egr afaik.

My whistle got fairly loud up and down the revs, this is what the cold side looked like:

Mines whistled since I got it over 2 years ago. It's even louder when it's cold and through the gears. Still pulling on strong tho

Mines started whining. Check the cold side and it looks fine. Nothing like that.

mines whistled since ive had the car and now ive had the second map it whistles even more. people are constantly telling me the turbos going to go but its been like that for 2 years so i think its fine! whistles even more in the cold and through gears...glad to see its not just my car!

Just to join the conversation - mine whistles at around 200-2800(ish) revs.....fine I think, not had an issue.......

After you idle for about two minutes the whistle starts if anyone has noticed? Then as soon as you blip or touch the throttle it goes away. Wonder why it is? Its normal as my turbo had only done 1000 mile when I got mine :) I quite like being able to hear it tho :)

Same, but my last one did actually pop and took the engine down with it, the new one i have with 50k on it whines even more than the one with 130k, nothing to worry about i think!

Mine is whining also. Do you notice it more at low revs when cold ?

Mines louder, guess ours are both going to blow up

Sorry to bring up an old thread but was this the turbo fail?

Ive noticed mine doing the same recently under same conditions but not on boost. Getting really annoyed with this turbo crap as had the original replaced it 2012 after it had covered over 90k, the garrett that replaced it lasted a year before i got (the police siren) whine and turned out to be a damaged blade.

I could understand it before because i was told they found a small lump of carbon rolling around, but when i had it refitted the intake manifold was completely cleaned out, so im getting a bit fed up now of turbos.

so what is it that causes the egr to whistle on idle and goes away when revving, gettin on my nips now.. :)
