After you idle for about two minutes the whistle starts if anyone has noticed? Then as soon as you blip or touch the throttle it goes away. Wonder why it is? Its normal as my turbo had only done 1000 mile when I got mine I quite like being able to hear it tho

I don't know if it's just me but the whistling turbo sound can be quite characterful especially when accelerating

Check your seals on the IC piping.. these are prone to failing and will leak boost, causing in some circumstances an extra "whistle". I have this on mine, and understand it to be a tiny boost leak

Its not so much the whistle when on boost i expect that, its the whistle/ whine at about 1000 to 2000 rpm or when revving while parked.

i took it to a garage that found my problen last time turbo went funny and they said not to worry.

A certain amount of whistle is normal from the turbo.

 

Also the whistle at idle is certainly normal and is the EGR.

 

What isn't normal are any loud whooshing noise or very loud whistle or whines from the turbo.

 

I can hear a certain amount of whistle from my PD105 which is more pronounced at low revs and light throttle when the noise from the engine doesn't mask it.

 

My old Cordoba PD130 had a much louder whistle and you could really hear the turbo spooling up.

The whistle on mine is more noticeable when cold, only really hear it when the turbo is spooling mind once it's on boost it's fairly quiet. I wouldn't worry unless it sounds like a police siren and turns heads when you drive past lol. There are plenty of videos on YouTube of vRS's with nackered turbos so you can compare the sound.

I had police siren last time which is why im always worried, mine sounds like the video on this thread but not as loud. Ive read on other threads about the egr but mines been of for ages so cant blame that.

i guess of it gets louder i will worry
