Ipod pause

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have the telephone pack/multi function steering wheel and MDI, with the columbus. Is there anyway to pause the ipod from the steering wheel buttons? I know that if you don't have the telephone pack, then pushing the phone button pauses the ipod (works a treat on the Wife's Yeti), but as I have the phone pack on the Superb, this doesn't work. I have RTFM and searched the forum, plus experimented, but the only way I can pause the ipod is by touching the screen of the columbus unit and am doing a language course which requires a lot of pausing - not very safe to touch the screen every ten seconds or so!

Thanks,

Matt.

Matt,

I have the same issue with the Amundsen unit in my car but I don't think touching the screen works on mine though. So sorry, don't have an answer but I'll watch with interest! Seems odd to me to not be able to easily pause playback.

Turn the volume to minimum with the steering wheel thumbwheel. This pauses the track.

Phil.

Try pressing the volume button on the steering wheel (this pauses with the media tracks) might work with MDI?

Thanks Phil. That worked a treat for me. I was able to test that the nav volume works independently of this. Presumably the phone volume does too?

On mine pressing the volume button/wheel activates the voice recognition menu.

Cheers

Thanks for the replies so far. Turning the volume to zero via the wheel is not instantaneous enough (even using the screen, it still lags a little on the ipod) and as I have the voice activation, pushing the button activates this function. Looks like another poor ipod integration package.....they've been around a while, think that VAG might of got used to them by now!

Tad unfair, iPod/iPhone/iPad whilst prevalent are not the only device on the market. As there are competing standards it must be difficult for manufacturers to perfect every device connection.

If you have the iPod touch & blue tooth package try bluetooth streaming

This works very well & responds quick

Thanks for the replies, the issue is to be able to keep your hands on the wheel and not remove them to touch anything. I'll keep experimenting.....

True - but being able to pause a device without taking your hands from the wheel I would of thought was fairly basic - especially as they make a point of this functionality if you don't have the phone package, here the phone button pauses the device (any device connected through MDI).
