After a false start from the promised collection time yesterday, we finally managed to get our Yeti out of the dealer's compound to freedom at 4.30pm - in the rain, dark, and rush hour traffic.

Apart from that, all was well, except a couple of observations which I'm sure have been aired before.

The rear wheel arch seems to have a design flaw in that the road dirt is flung off the tyre onto a stuck on seal, and the edge of the door. I can now see why the foil goes round the corner, to protect the painted rearward facing edge of the door. Not very good for traversing muddy tracks - I'm thinking about a discrete thin black polyurethane flap fastened to the wheel arch liner?

The other thing is the secondary speedo reading in metric, when everything else can be Anglicised

Apart from a VAG-Com intervention, is there anything I can do on an SE model?

White Dove still messing around then? Glad you finally got it.

The door foils are more to stop stone chips from the front wheels. Mine is normally mud covered and I haven't found a problem from the rear wheels.

Other than getting your car transferred to Australia by a VagCom expert, no, other than get used to it. I actually find it quite useful. If you drive at 48kph you're doing 30mph, and it is easier to see the figures than the unmarked speedo, ditto for 50mph and 70mph.

second point - NOPE. you are stuck with Km/hr. There's a legal point here that one or two of the more studious Briskodians will have at their fingertips to explain (one could call them pedants, but that would be so unfair).

First point. LOADS of early posts about this. Kinda stuck with this as well as nothing makes much difference.

Avoid - er - mud??

Welcome to the Yeti-owning world, by the way. Well done.

Mmm, would that be an EU thing then - like bent bananas?

There is a C & U Requirement that there has to be a permanent display of both the mph and kph speeds on the dash of the vehicle. This is normally done by having dual notation on the speedo, however VAG decided to have a pile of speedos made with only mph on them. Therefore to overcome the problem they have the kph speed displayed on the MFD display.

This does not only affect the Yeti but the Tiguan as well, and possibly other models.

I haven't seen the "problem" raised anywhere else but on here. :(
