DMF or not

Featured Replies

Had my octavia ambiente 2001 y reg 1.9 tdi 128k for a few weeks now and am quite happy so far apart from needing a temp sender wich i am going to fit tomorrow, i have noticed a slight vibration at low to medium revs seems to come through the body and i am probably thinking the worst that it might be the dmf on its way out, i was told when ibought it that this model/year didn't have one fitted, but now i am told that it could have, the engine has a slight rock on tickover wich tells me that something is out of balance, the clutch works fine, is this vibration normal on the octavia 1.9 tdi?

60 views and no replies, surely somebody knows if the vibration is normal!

As far as I know all Mk1 Octavias whether petrol or diesel have the dual mass flywheel.

Do the engine mounts seem ok?

I don't think the 1.4 has a DMF

When I fitted the dogbone upgrade the engine rocking went. Might be the same issue.

Hi have been in touch with skoda dealership that serviced it from new and they advise me that it has got dmf fitted, and the symptoms that i gave re the vibration is consistent with the dmf having seized and being slightly off balance is giving the vibration, which is only going to get worse over time, so i am going to be fitting a single mass flywheel kit when the weather gets a bit warmer. This is so sods law i have been trying to avoid these dmf's like the plague and through duff info i have ended upwith one still i think the kit now is about £250 ish and apparently the gearbox is dead easy to get out, anybody done one?

Hi,I just had mine done.I would not say it is dead easy,it took us most of the day,but we did not rush. There is a lot to take off for easy access.I bought mine for £180 Luk Dmf with clutch. It feels much lighter then the original Sachs clutch.
