Mk1 Fabia VRS buying advice

Featured Replies

Hi all!

I've recently been looking into VRS Fabias as a new daily driver, after getting a drive of a friends VRS just recently I thoroughly enjoyed the power delivery of the PD130 lump.

Im going to try and make the jump into VRS/PD130 ownership by the end of the month on a vehicle on over 100K

What sort of service history should the VRS have by that mileage? Will anything be due for renewal?

I know that the belts need to be changed every 4 years or 60k. Are the front wishbone bushes as much of an issue on the fab as they are on the Ibiza?

Thanks for any help you can give me towards my next purchase guys/gals!

Sean.

Hi and welcome aboard.

You have summed up the main things to look for, a quick search will probably make the list even longer.

No1 thing to do is drive the car youre interested in, if it feels anyway in the least bit wrong - walk away.

Also try & start the car from cold & look for blue smoke, check oil filler cap for Mayo as well. this is def a walk away scenario.

Hello Sean and welcome along

Great advice above and also get yourself in to the Fabia forum and have a read, search, ask a few questions etc, good luck in your search.

Cheers all I'll have a quick search of the mk1 Fab forum.

Ah so do the PD130 engines suffer from HG issues lfc958?

I'm also aware of the turbo whining/whistling whilst on idle meaning that it could mean replacement time.
