17608 fault code

Featured Replies

Hi all, having changed the N249, N75, another valve, the thermostat, the thermostat sensor and been through the hoses with a fine tooth comb the car is still throwing this code. It's stopped setting the engine warning light on, but it's still there lurking in the background taunting me. I've not found any problems with the way the car drives, though with it being the wifes car feedback is somewhat limited (sorry ladies) the only report I have is that it seems a little more thirsty.

Basically I've no idea what's left to change. It's a bit of a result that the engine light isn't comming on but I fear it will return shortly.

Any ideas? I know this has been done to death but I've been unable to find any suggestions as to what could be left to fix.

Was the code cleared after you changed all the valves etc?

Is it running the standard divertor valve and have you changed that?

All the parts I replaced were stock. By clearing the code I changed the part and then cleared the code before moving onto the next fault a week later.

The only other thing the 17608 code could be is a fault with the standard divertor valve so if you can get hold of another one of those give it a try and see if the code goes away.

If you clear the code does it come straight back as soon as you turn the engine on or after it's been driven for a bit? If it comes straight back right away then I'd say there's something wrong with the ECU not clearing the code, if it comes back only after you've driven the car for a bit (and used the turbo) then there's still something not right in the N249 or DV systems.

Cool, strange that you mention it but I haven't heard the usual chirp from that for a while. I'll check that out. Cheers.
