Is it me or has the cost of these cars gone up? My mate is looking for the same as mine but we are talking £1500 more than I paid a year ago with more miles than what I have now!!!

Yes prices have gone up. No full size spare alloy anymore either.

Vat is now 20% and it was 17.5% . Euro exchange range is less than it was 2 years ago so part of the price hike is economics.

Sorry I'm talking 07 plate and the VAT was 20% last year too. I'm sure someone sold a vrs for sub 8 last year on here

Prices of the extras all gone up, I got a quote for contract hire on the 31st dec through skoda finance, then went to order my VRS cr170 and the price went up about £70 for the price of the car! Any how I still ordered it. Delivery end Jan.

Not the 57 plates I've seen recently. Got my VRS a year ago for 10k, can easily get similar spec/mileage cars for 9k or thereabouts

My 07 plate VRS with 42k on the clock is now on my dealers forecourt for £9995

I tried selling in all private areas for £8.2 and had no interest as well

My old 58 cr has been on the dealers forecourt for nearly a year priced at 13,999. I only paid 15,400 for it new over 3 years ago.

I live in Hampshire and AutoTrader are all coming up more expensive than I paid and with more miles. We are talking 9-10k with 40,000+ miles on the clock. This is for the elegance, so not even the vrs!

It's not so much that prices have gone up, it's more that used prices are dropping much less than they used to.

The Skoda brand has had a lot of positive publicity of late which has pushed up demand for both new and used Octavia's.

Combine this with some fairly aggressive offers from Skoda recently which has allowed those people who normally buy used to be able to buy new and all of a sudden older examples become harder to find.

The day's of sacrificing brand image for a cheap Skoda are now behind us.

I'm happy, but my mates not he is now asking what to look at instead, but he did want an Octavia estate having had me bleet on about mine
