Is it the solonoid ?

Featured Replies

Hi, pulling what little hair I have left over this ! I have a 2003 octavia ambient 1.9 tdi. The problem is it really lacks power, the emissions workshop warning comes on at startup and the engine is noisy but not smokey. Computer advises it is a fuel pump fault - points at a valve. Timing belt changed recently. The fault comes and goes but more an issue than not. Can't afford a new pump but. could it be the solonoid ? Any advice greatfully accepted !

Did the problem only occur after the timing belt change? If so I'd check to make sure the timing was correctly set after the belt change.

Other things to check are cleaning the MAF, although the computer says otherwise if you have not tried it, it shouldn't hurt.

Hi the problem happened a while after the belt change. It runs rough for example with little power, you stop for a minute and it'll be ok but you put your foot down and the rattle starts and no power. Fuel starvation ?

Well when you say the computer, what did you use?

Was it a main dealer?

If the computer from a main dealer says that I'd check for wiring damage first then that is an option as are the relays that power the pump in the tank.

Otherwise it's a long list of options from the turbo upwards.

I take it that you've had your fuel filter changed in the recent past?

Brilliant - I shall get the garage to check that first and will advise.
