VW AND SEAT PART NUMBERS

Featured Replies

Hi, Im looking for some advice on replacement part numbers. Im going to replace an airbag slip ring on a Seat Arosa. The part number is 6KO 959 653 £70 from TPS Or Seat. I want to try a used part so have searched ebay and the closest I can get is a VW part 1JO 959 653. Does anyone know how the 1JO Makes it different? I thought the first three digits were to define which system the part was from? Many thanks for any help.

Correct the first 3 digits/letters denote what vehicle it is for (1J0 is a MK4 Golf)

The part No. breaks down as:

1J0 (= MK4 Golf)

959 (Main group 9 = electrical system, Sub group 59)

653 = actual part No. (this is a random No. unlike the above which always mean the same thing)

If there is a letter after the part No. then this is the revision code - so for example code A will be an earlier revision than code C

Any additional numbers will be trim colour or paint codes.

Just because the 1J0 959 653.(for example) is the same number, does not necessarily mean that both revisions A and C will fit, or indeed 1J0 and 6K0 will be identical (usually if they have the same plug on them and are the same shape and size they they will be the same though).

Not a definite yes it will / no it won't fit, but it helps you and others understand the part numbers a bit better.

Great info thanks for that :-) So it may not fit as the ring fits into the back of the steering wheel and the golf steering wheel may be a different size. £70 for a new part it is then :-(
