Forced to fit a "drag strip wheel"

Featured Replies

One of my damned new front Yokos has decided not to seal on the rim, and was greeted with a flat tyre this afternoon! I only hope I noticed early enough and haven't been driving it that low for enough time to do damage.

Sporting the space saver look. Went to try and fit one of my TD pro race 1.2, but I need damned spigot rings to 57.1mm from whatever diameter they are. Bloody annoying as they were meant to have been fitted to a fabia before I got them....

Obviously been run by an eejit!

Thanks for the "Ebay search spigot rings" reminder! :D

My Pro Race 1.2s are 73.1mm or whatever the closest figure to that is. I found out I had one missing when I got new tyres fitted. Missing from the wheel that the same garage had removed to fix a puncture for me. Which is the only wheel that's ever been off the car while I'd owned it. And they still reckon it wasn't their fault. My point is, they probably were fitted to a Fabia before you bought them, but since the bores are larger then they'll obviously go on with ease and sit quite happily held on only by the 5 bolts which aren't for that purpose...

Thanks for the link.

They didn't come up as I think I used "57.1mm" - and thats not got "mm" in the title. Saves me a couple more quid. :)

Good news, rim fine, tyre fine, bead sealer fitted and away again. Could be the hazard of using a 205 tyre on an 8J rim. Stretch isn't ideal for a good seal.
