Remap today with Rolling Road...

Featured Replies

Hi everyone have had my car remapped today and had a rolling road before and after.

Run 1 = Standard

Run 2 = Remmapped

Is the torque band clutch friendly at all on the map by looking at the graph?

Looks reasonably clutch friendly to me. Though I haven't had mine RR'd, I asked for about the same torque. It was OK apart from a bit of slip in 5th/6th on the motorway (sudden throttle and slight incline).

Thanks for reply, I got my car mapped yesterday n just wanted to know if the torque band is less aggressive than other maps out there... Im on standard clutch and car now ticked 60k miles, I've only been putting my foot down after 2k revs as this will pro long the life... Hopefully I'm not getting mixed up...

Dont know about your graph mate, but after I had mine done I never put my foot down til after 2k revs, but my clutch is now pretty recked. Several people here said I should really be waiting til 2.5k.

Oh really, that's kinda worrying... How long did it last for? Can be costly replacing clutch :/

On your graph at around 2.7k, that's where mine would slip. I've tried to keep my torque flat as possible.

Damn do in guessing can't boot it after 2.7k? Quite high in the revs if you ask me, all that power and can't have fun with it. Start saving for new clutch me thinks

Right i see, how long did your clutch start to slip after map?

Took a while. Then I got rid of the map at 60k miles. Now on 107k with the same clutch. Now started playing with the mapping but limiting it.

Wow! done a lot of miles on standard clutch even with part remap...

Have to admit map does feel good, pulls loads of power, 1st 2nd and part 3rd gear in these conditions are pretty much un-useable in these cold conditions, all that torque. Hopefully clutch will hold, do look after it and running 277lbs/ft of torque. I know 300lbs/ft is the limit for standard clutch but wanted to keep it as low as possible

300lbft with a careful right foot maybe. Too much <grin> inducement for most I fear. You get adicted to suddenly flooring it and being thrust forwards. As I stated, I'm maybe 20-30lbft down on that and it still gave me a few problems. Still on the same clutch mind, 30-40K later.

Also bear in mind that unless you're using additives, the diesel you're using right now is tamer than the usual. Google winter vs summer diesel. Current stuff's got anti-gel/waxing agents in it and is slightly less useful.

My remap is 174bhp and 310ftlb, standard clutch and car has done 89k. No slipping. I tend to press on after 2k.

Hi, it lloks like a progressive map does it drive smoothly?

John

N.B 165 bhp is at the heat soak limits of smic on a hot day

never knew there was such thing as winter/summer diesel but looked it up and your right, learnt something new.

Yeah i've been waiting till 2k revs to put my foot down as, as i've read before the map makes the car more petrol like and pulls to the red line...

Yeah i thought it was progressive as it pulls to limiter and a nice power delivery all way through, don't know anything about maps however so thought ill upload a nice picture

would there be a difference then in getting a map in the winter/summer?

Hi, possibly but the dyno operator should input the air temperature and air pressure so it should adjust.

Best wishes

John

^ cheers for that, it will be unit 18 doing it so hopefully all should be well,

Thanks

Rich
