Airbag warning light

Featured Replies

The warning light for airbag has come on,could i disconnect the Battery to clear the fault, or is this not a case of rebooting, but hoofing it down to the stealers out of warranty by now.

been reliable untill now, apart from the 'bidet'hose comng adriftin the big freeze last winter (still not fixed that0

You need VCDS or a dealer I'm afraid to clear the fault - the MKII Octavia suffers from seat airbag plugs coming adrift, obviously any problem in the system would need to be rectified otherwise the light will come straight back on again.

Even if you find and fix the fault yourself the light can only be put out by VCDS or a dealer.

Any code reader capable of reading a VW airbag system can diagnose and turn the light out once it has been fixed. Becareful who you take it to as some people just 'disable' the airbag rather than fix the fault.

mine has done the same 05 1.9tdi estate. Just didn't go off after starting a few weeks ago. Any sane way to check someone has rebooted the sensor not disabled the airbag ?

Yeah a scan of the airbag system will give a fault code that would point to a disabled airbag
