Yeti will improve emergency response times in poor weather

Featured Replies

A yeti will soon be on the prowl in Somerset, because Taunton Deane Borough Council is launching an emergency service with a difference.

Deane Helpline, the specialist response service is bringing into service its first dedicated emergency response vehicle.

The four-wheel-drive model – a Skoda Yeti – will mean that highly trained emergency response officers will be able to reach vulnerable clients whatever the weather conditions are like.

National 4x4 Response and all their subsidiary groups, like the one Llanigraham is a member of and Surrey 4x4 Response which I am a member of, also offer this service to local councils & emergency services in bad weather. Have been doing so for years.

That model of service provision may well be adopted here as the Emergency services were stretched during last years bad weather.

Good to see a Council putting their fate in the Yeti for this role.

Bet it has summer tyres and then someone wonders why it still slides around (he says as the snow comes bucketing down outside) :wonder:

Dom,

knowing the people involved in the advice that has been given to Taunton Deane BC, that is actually very unlikely!

Ceredigion Care First, a similar set up, had a Yeti last year, and through 4x4 Response Wales I was asked for advice on their requirements.
