clutch slipping but only sometimes

Featured Replies

hi just had my fabia remaped to bout 167 bhp buy pro tune scotland and its grate but my clutch is slipping in 3rd 4th 5th and 6th. this only really happens when car is hot or i go on a long run when i start car in morning and drive 3 miles to my work i cant get it to slip. what could this be and if i need a new clutch would a standerd sachs be ok also if i had a flat battery would i lose my map? thanks

Clutch slip is common mines just started slipping again, i only replaced it 12 monnths ago, just depends on your driving style, people say dont boot it until you hit 2-2.5k rpm but wheres the fun in that, thats why mine is slipping again lol, you would be better off shelling out for a uprated clutch im looking at smf with helix clutch at mo but you could just get a sachs uprated clutch with your dmf and not have any problems then, and no you shouldnt lose your map ive had my battery out acouple of times

tHANKS i have booked it in tomorrow for a new clutch and fly wheel sachs. and they guy at darkside developments says they are rated upto 200bhp. i know its really the torque that matters but do u think this will be ok .

No chance of loosing your map. It's stored in the flash chip on the ecu.

If you lost it your car wouldn't start lol

Clutch slip after remap is common. To much torque for the standard clutch.

Yeah thanks mate. Do you think the new clutch I hAve got will last tho

It depends if its standard yeah it can last if you drive it like a granny i like to drive mine lower down in the rev range thus requiring a sports clutch, but wouldnt go replacing the flywheel unless its knackered unless your going the smf route, as it will be unlikely that your flywheel needs changing
