Enough is enough!

Hi guys

Having a few issues with my fabia vrs MK1 after giving it to Awesome Gti to fit 2 PD150's and a remap. Basically the car has immense amounts of lag in 1st, 2nd gear, turbo kicking in around 3500RPM!! In the rest of the gears, the turbo kicks in at 2500RPM. The first turbo they fitted had a MAJOR defect where the oil was being chucked straight through into the downpipe causing the car to smoke loads. The first turbo kick in around 2000RPM as it should and it felt like the car had a custom map. After this i consulted Awesome Gti and they changed the turbo, however now im having lag problems and the car's going into limp mode in 6th gear. Rang them back again and they didnt want anything to do with the car, a FEW words were exchanged, i was told to F*** off in other words and still no outcome. They are putting it down to the egr valve (BLT engine), but this was on before the map. At my own expense ive replaced the MAF, supposedly Awesome gti have checked actual and required figures but still nothing. Im sick of being messed around by them, shouldnt have gone there in the first place. I rather have a bunch of monkeys working on the car and definatley not a professional service at all!

Im not getting anywhere with them so taking matters into my own hands. I know a few members have done this build so my questions to members of Briskoda are:-

Where to purchase a GTB2260VK from

Any reccomendations on who can fabricate a decent manifold

Any tips on the installation of this turbo.

If you want a gtb2260vk the company darkside developments do a full kit for the fabia

Yeah speak to Ryan, he does a full kit for around £2k. If you want less lag you could go for the gtb20 which gives less lag than the gtb22.

Where about are you based? Is the Pd150 a hybrid or stock?

First thing is to write to them and ask for repair/refund or replacement under section 14 of sale of goods act (look it up). If they refuse report them to trading standards (using consumer direct on the web). Then assuming that you paid on a credit card write to the provider to ask for a refund under section 75 of the consumer credit act (you may have to argue your case but if what you say is true you will will under the fit for purpose argument and provision of warranty), inform Awesome that this is happening as the card company should claim back the money from them via the courts and they will be highly unlikely to win as they may then listen. Trading Standards prosecution and court appearances to refund credit card monies don't do good things for business'.

thanks for the responce guys. Just wondering can a egr delete really cause a flotspot/turbo lag? awesome gti are cliaming its down to the egr delete pipe but that was on the car before their turbo and map. As for claiming back the money, i didnt pay with a credit card so icant do that.

Could it be down to a vaccum pipe leaking or a map sensor? the first turbo they fitted was CHUCKING out loads of oil so the intercooler must have some oil in there which may cause issues with the map sensor?

Though there is a very high pitched noise when boosting, never heard it when the old map and turbo was on.

Really not happy with their workmanship, they've literally F***** the car!

To be honest i really cant be arsed chasing them up i rather get it fixed. So far Ive replaced the MAF sensor, Vaccum box and scanned for codes but still not cured the problem.

Drdarlos how likely am i to win the case with trading standards? unfortunatley i didnt log calls but i have all paperwork from them

Everyones to their own opinion but unfortunately this was my experience. But I've read some decent reviews about shark, i'll give them a try myself once i sort the problem out.

gutted for you, hope you get it sorted soon....

dont like the idea of it all going wrong after a remap, what are the chances???

not good to hear that your having problems, 2 years ago I had an engine conversion done by a local 'vw specialist' completely buggerd up the conversion after them having it for 3 months enough was enough, started the court process, it got to court December just gone and I won my case, a long process but worth it

I hope you sort your situation out as peacefully as possible,

Personally I always use awesome for parts and I find there service faultless

Umm, if it's done crappily and leaking boost, I think it might present all the symptoms you've mentioned, including high pitched or whistling noises. depends if the EGR pipe itself was removed and a blanking plate installed in the exhaust manifold of the turbo.

J.

Do you know the history of the turbo that was fitted?

Sticking variable vein mechanism causing the lack of power?

That's the thing it might be something simple but they just not accepting liability, not going to mention any names but one fella said it's 'normal'! How can that be normal my car went in fine. All I want them to do is check all pipes including vacuum pipes. They did take off my fmic to clean up and stuff. As for the egr it was blanked off professionally before I got the car.

All I really know, it's a reconditioned turbo. But the first turbo was reconditioned and that was chucking oil straight through into the down pipe! So they replaced that. There could be a possibility that this turbo on the car is faulty???? I did ask them to check the actuator settings and they said it was fine. But since their custom map it doesn't feel any faster from the stage one revo map I had on, the car feels slower. Despite this it apparently made 30bhp more and a lot more torque.

Take it to the right people and drive it accordingly and it will last.

Rich any guidance on how to proceed down this route?

Gtb2260vk well worth it, but to hit full potential you'll need modified injectors too.

The egr delete shouldnt cause problems i run one with my pd150 hybrid but speak to someone who knows what there doing. i had all my work done at unit 18 great guys couldnt ask for anything more.
