Hi. My Fabia vRS SE has started developing an annoying squeek which i cannot locate the source of. It is especially noticable/apparent when I have started the car from cold, when I use the brakes and it also happens when the car leans forward or backwards under acceleration or decceleration (without using the brakes). The sound is similar to an old babys pram! (lol). The squeek seems to reduce after the car is warm and has been driven for a few miles, and at higher speeds isn't v noticeable. I had assumed that it might be the brakes sticking, but the squeek also happens when the car leans forward or backward under accelaration/decceleration (especailly in 2nd gear).

Does anyone have any ideas what might be the cause of this noise or had similar problems? I'm pretty sure it is not internal or the boot lid.

Console bushes need replacing with the sounds of it . Mine made exactly the same noise .

ahh ok thanks I will get them checked out. How much did it cost you to get them replaced?

On the subject of annoying squeeks....................

.................mine has a squeek in the dash, seems to ce coming from the steering column but when you push your left knee against the centre console, it stops.........ideas on a more permanent fix?? And NO, I do not want to continuously drive with my left knee pushed against the trim!

Two main squeeks are the top dash cover over the instrument cluster (need to remove the cluster and put thin felt pads on top of cluster to stop to squeeking against the dash cover hood)

Then the metal "top hat" squeek which is a locating bracket for the top of the dash (right in the centre about 8" back from the hazard switch) and as the bracket is located on the metal dash crossbar which also has the steering column bolted to it....if you move the steering wheel up and down the centre of the dash squeeks........

£ 20 for the bushes and £80 to get them fitted .
