Elegance ARB upgrades

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've searched the forum quite a bit but all the posts seem to relate to the VRS FARB/RARB best setup. I'm looking to improve the handling of my 1.8T Elegance but can't find out what size the standard FARB is?

I'm not sure what RARB to go for, as I don't know the front size, or if I should uprate the front to VRS size (if it's bigger) at the same time as fitting a Whiteline 24mm RARB or similar.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Pat.

As far as I know all the 1.8T Octys have a 19mm front ARB. If you put the wheel on full lock you can look behind one of the wheels and find the ARB to check it.

Had a go round a roundabout in a VRS today with the 22mm R32 front bar and 28mm Eibach rear and it felt very good.

I thought the RS already had a heavier FARB than any of the normal models?

In any event, if you fit a heavier FARB, you will need to add a RARB to balance out the understeery handling (not to be confused with the high roll angles that standard Octys can achieve, which can feel like understeer during a lock transition while you're waiting for the mass to shift).

Cheers for the replies. I'll have a look at the FARB thats on now and measure it then maybe just polybush it and get the 24mm Whiteline RARB to tighten things up.

A Whiteline rear ARB will make a big difference and reduce a lot of the under steer.
