Struggling to meet boost

Featured Replies

Hello all, I'm hoping some one could help.

I'm struggling to meet boost. I've raised boost to 2412 but only getting 2364 max. Duty cycle is not getting past 54% at 4000rpm.

When set to 2484 I'm only getting max 2388 and agian not getting past 54%.

Logged in 3d gear from 2Krpm to 4krpm.

Last log back on the 7th December I was requesting 2340 (stock) and getting 2448 (increase fueling) with duty cylce going to 72% at 4krpm.

Only thing thats change since then is a whistle/whine coming from the turbo. Dealer has checked it and says the tubos fine.

Any comments would be helpfull.

Thanks

Sticking vanes maybe? Try doing the VNT exercise on VCDS (Basic Settings, block 010 I think, but double check first!). Leave it cycling for the full 10 or 15 minutes it needs and it might free things up a bit.

Seems your just like me haha

Hope not but I'm convinced somethings not right. Going to put the map I had on in December back on and do another log. If its still not meeting boost then its another saturday removing boost pipes :( Might buy some new vac hose to rule that out.

All sorted. Vacuum hose wasn't connected to the air box.

glad you managed to diagnose it

Is this the little hose that goes into the side of the air box?

Mine was snapped off when I got the car so bodged it back on using one of those inflator nozzles from an air bump for inflating balls etc.

Do you think that the hole in this nozzle will be too narrow for the vaccum? Is it where the vacuum for the car comes from?
