hope this is a easy fix as been told its the cat but donnor car had new one fitted

could be Lambda probe or the temp sender/temp sender wiring. the new cat is it a proper genuine one or a cheapo copy that half the size the skoda one is??

if its a copy take it off and throw it as far as you can and fit the proper one as they are usually rubbish and it has most likely been changed to fix the fault that is still there.

Do you have vagcom?

I would go with along with the lambda probe theory too, however before you go shelling out on a new one there are a few things you can do in vagcom to check if it's working or not by looking at the measuring blocks whislt the engine is running, the other thing worth doing is checking the ignition timing too.

how do i test with vagcom this and how do i check the timing as well

You've answered your own with the above readout, swap it out for a Different one, the one that on your original 1300 engine is the same lambda probe if you still have it knocking around...
