egr blanking plate

Featured Replies

Hi all,my recently aquired vrs se has the low rpm hesitation so i've been running around with the vacum hose pulled off the egr valve/eml on for a few weeks as i find the hesitation really annoying!

I finally got round to looking at it this morning and sure enough it has the large hole gasket so first thought was to go and buy the correct gasket (as per the guide on here/fabia vrs.com)

But then i got thinking....has anyone ever fitted a blank at this position,ie-gasket with no hole in it?

would the egr valve still function with no flow through it? (and therefore not put the eml on)

Only thing i couldnt figure out is what the water pipes that go to the section of pipe by this joint do(some sort of heat exchanger i guess),if they are to cool the exhaust gas no worries but if they are to help warm the water on start up perhaps this idea is a non starter!

anyone ever played about with this?

cheers dave

As far as I know putting a solid blank on would give you the EML light as its the same as deleting it?

I have one of those gaskets with a smaller hole going spare if you want it - I was going to use it on mine but not going to now.

If you want it PM me your address & I'll send it to you :)

If my failing memory serves me well, the replacement gasket with a 9 mm hole caused quite a few to have the eml light come on, which is why it's suggested that the hole should be drilled to 14 mm. This being the case, you're bound to have problems with a 0 mm hole! Perhaps a case of suck it and see?

I also have a vrs se and have improved matters by making a 1 mm restrictor in the vacuum line to the egr valve.

Regards,

Bob
